As recorded in my Live Blog of Stage 3 of the Tour de France earlier this morning, Canadian Ryder Hesjedal Team Garmin-Transitions, leads the early break away, sets the pace for the lead group of seven, and finishes forth in Stage 3 of the Tour de France.
Summary of Stage 3 2010 Tour de France, from letour.fr
Thanks to the Tour de France site for the video, which I captured and uploaded to Youtube. (Hope their nice about that, this is Canada’s “generation moment” at Le Tour after all)
This is Ryder Hesjedal third Tour, he finished a very respectable 49th in 2009′s Tour de France and 45th in 2008.
On July 01, 2010 Yahoo.ca News published a piece by the Canadian Press’s Jim Morris entitled, “Hesjedal capable of Tour de France stage win“. Well, he almost did just that today in Stage 3.
He at the top of his game right now, so don’t think this is his only chance gone by; with two and a half weeks to go Ryder Hesjedal could very well win a stage, or two, of this prestigious race.
From the Canadian Press piece by Jim Morris,
“Hesjedal made history in September when he became the first Canadian to win a stage in the Spanish Vuelta, just two days after finishing second in another stage. In May he won the final stage of the Tour de California.
The two victories have fuelled Hesjedal’s confidence and added to his team’s expectations.
“I think I’ve proven I can not just ride well and place high, but also place in the front,” said the Victoria native. “Any time you can show that and prove that at this level, I think the team is hoping you can do that again and is looking at you to do that.”
Victoria British Columbia’s Ryder Hesjedal is in 4th place overall, just 46 seconds behind the yellow jersey.
