Photos from my April Fools Day Commute Home
By Joe T. | April 2, 2010
Everyone takes such great photos on BikingToronto. I want to join in… and now that I have a camera with me most days, I have to get into the habit of taking photos with it.
Here are a bunch of photos I took on my way home from work yesterday. I’ll add a bit of commentary too.
My first Panda shot. A panda shot is when you take a self-portrait while biking, i think?
Wellesley just east of Bay looking east. I love seeing that new condo (Verve) in the distance (it’s located on the Wellesley Curve between Jarvis and Sherbourne). The next 4 photos are all from as I was biking along Wellesley.
Took a couple photos of the Sherbourne “Bikelane” up where it crosses Bloor. It’s constantly full of cars waiting to turn right (right turns are prohibited on the red light at this corner). The bikelane goes straight to the north side of Bloor, so the right turn lane is to the right of the bikelane – meaning that everyone lines up in the bikelane.
Unfortunately, very few cyclists go straight north through this intersection. The majority of cyclists turn right to go across the Danforth Viaduct and into East End Toronto. A bikelane beside the curb would probably (hopefully?) be filled up less often.
Approaching the Viaduct, eastbound:
The rest of the photos I took were of cyclists at Broadview and Danforth… a pretty busy intersection for bikes in the afternoon.
View all of these in a Flickr Set.
