As I mentioned when I posted photos from the Sweet Ride: Cupcake Edition on Sunday, I also took about 100 short videos during the ride, and have been editing them on my phone. I’m finally done, and was able to take 11 minutes of video down to 3.5, as well as pairing it with a [...]
Yesterday, we had our first Sweet Ride (co-ed food based group ride planned with Hyedie of the Cupcake Ride) of 2012. It had a cupcake theme, and we started up at Bathurst and Eglinton at Flour Studio and went all the way to Bobbette & Belle in Leslieville almost completely car-free via the Beltline, Moore Park [...]
We are so happy to present the first Sweet Ride of 2012! This ride is Cupcake themed and will happen on Sun, April 22 at 1 pm (which by the way is Earth Day)! (Note: the photo above is from our April Sweet Ride of 2011. Look how happy we all are! You don’t want [...]
Just in case you haven’t heard, the first Girls Cupcake Ride of 2012 is this Saturday! Remember, this ride is for Girls Only. If you’re a guy (or a girl who can’t make it this Saturday) Hyedie and I are planning a Co-ed Sweet Ride for Sunday, April 22nd. There will be cupcakes (and lots of other fine baked goods) available. We should [...]
We’re gearing up for the 2012 Sweet Ride and Cupcake Ride season and Joe and I thought we’d be proactive this year and set dates for the whole season before hand. While this is a tentative schedule, we’re hoping that nothing will come up and we can stick to the dates below. We’ll be setting [...]
You may know that BikingToronto organizes co-ed “Sweet Rides” that revolve around food every once in a while, and we organize them with Hyedie Hashimoto, the woman behind the Toronto Girls Cupcake Rides. Hyedie has posted a re-cap and photo wrap-up of the latest Girls ride, and it looks like a great one. Go to [...]
Wow! The last few days have been amazing for registrations for the Tweed Ride! It’s going so well, in fact, that we’ve decided to extend registration a little bit longer (making it easier for people to get the cheaper online rate of $15). IF there are any spots left on Saturday, it’ll be $20 for [...]
Volunteer Opportunities with the Toronto Tweed Ride Thanks to all those who have offered to volunteer to help with the Toronto Tweed Ride taking place on October 15th, leaving the Trinity Bellwoods Park Gates (registration is open from 12:00 – 2:30 at the Gates that day, or you can register NOW online) We’d like to [...]
We’re working furiously on the Toronto Tweed Ride (Sat. Via TweedRideToronto: Contest #1: Tweam Captain Extraordinaire! Hear ye, hear ye! Gather [...]
In case you don’t know, BikingToronto and Bikes without Borders are bringing a Tweed Ride to Toronto on Sat. Oct. 15, and generous sponsorship by ING Direct is making it possible. It’s going to be, quite frankly, amazing, with people dressing up in Tweed and other fashions of a bygone era, and riding through downtown [...]
You may have already gleaned this from past entries, but for the past few months, BikingToronto has been working with Bikes without Borders to bring Toronto a Tweed Ride on Sat, Oct. 15! Here is our press release, as well as some fabulous photos of dapper Mayor Miller (yes, it’s still appropriate to call him [...]

We posted some of Hyedie’s great photos from the Pie Ride yesterday (and Dandyhorse did a post about it too!), and I thought I’d share some photos I took too. I was leading the ride through a unique route through industrial, residential, rich and poor neighbourhoods, through pedestrianized streets and car-free bridges… and didn’t get [...]
Over on her Cupcake Ride blog, Hyedie has posted a great re-cap of the Pie Ride we had this past Saturday. Start Point: Madeleine’s Cherry Pie and Ice Cream, 1087 Bathurst Street (south of Dupont) End Point: Canadian Pie Company, 798 Queen Street East (east of Broadview) Here are a few photos from her Flickr [...]
There’s been a lot of work going on to organize a Tweed Ride for Toronto over the past couple of months, with another 6 weeks of organizing to go before the ride on Sat, Sept. 24. BUT… we are extremely happy to release the 2011 Tweed Ride Toronto Poster! This awesome poster was designed by [...]
The Latest and Greatest Sweet Ride is tomorrow, and we’re starting and ending the ride with Pie! We’ll be starting off at Madeleine’s Cherry Pie and Ice Cream up near Bathurst and Dupont and finishing way down in the Queen and Broadview area at the Canadian Pie Company! We’re not releasing our route, (mainly [...]
If you’ve been following along with our Sweet Rides, you’ll remember that in April we had a Cupcake Edition, and in June we had a … well, let’s call it a Bakery Edition (you can read about the issues we had) and now it’s almost August, so Hyedie of the Girls Cupcake Ride and I [...]
The 2011 inaugural ArtSpin was held last Thursday on a glorious summer evening. After a quick rider’s meeting we left Trinity Bellwoods and took to the streets in Critical Mass style (but happier and a bit less political). The tour had six stops which included visits to Birch Libralato, Diaz Contemporary and Walnut Studios. There [...]

This past Sunday saw the 2nd of 2011s “Sweet Rides“, the food-based rides planned by myself and Hyedie of the Toronto Girls Cupcake Ride. The Sweet Rides are co-ed rides that start and end with food (and sometimes have food in the middle). It’s good stuff. This past Sunday was planned as a “Dufflet Ride” [...]
A few details have changed about this ride, so I thought I’d update everyone with a new post. Because our Sweet Rides are so popular… Dufflets has told us that they can not accomodate us in their small retail spaces… so we’ve gone out and arranged all new better places to stop on our ride! [...]
This Sunday (June 19th) myself and Hyedie are having our 2nd “Sweet Ride“. This one is based around the Dufflet chain of bakeries in Toronto (and coincides with their excellent Tour de Dufflet they have every year during BikeMonth), so it’s the “Dufflet Edition“. (see photos from the first Sweet Ride here) We’ll be starting [...]
You may remember that back in April we had a “Sweet Ride: Cupcake Edition” … we had 21 people come out to a bike ride from the Cupcakery to Bobbette & Belle. Yes, we started with cupcakes and ended with cupcakes. You can see photos from the ride here and here and a short video [...]
