    Leslie to the Lake corridor (7 posts)

    Darn! I missed the Meeting about the TCC redevelopment of Leslie to the Lake corridor.

    CBC Radio news is reporting this morning residents were reacting badly to the idea. Noise problems. Secret process.

    No mention of the opportunities Joe mentioned and I had hoped to hear news of.

    I saw that on the news last night too.

    Will update this group when Paul Young sends out any notes on the meeting… he is usually really good about notes. :)

    Here's an update from Paul Young of the South Riverdale Community Health Centre:

    "Reports from the TTC open house indicate that the TTC is open to a meeting with us to talk about pedestrian and cycling improvements on Leslie. Below is an article from the Star’s point of view.

    We need to involve some of the people living near or on Eastern and Leslie. Anyone have contacts in that area or willing to talk to folks in that area?

    I have asked David Nagler (TTC), Daniel Egan (the City’s Manager of Bicycle Infrastructure planning) and the two councillors Sandra Bussin and Paula Fletcher if we could get together for a workshop to discuss opportunities, challenges and next steps. We also need someone from the Public Realm Office regarding pedestrian issues, maybe someone from planning as well. When things shape up we can invite the Bike Union and Toronto Coalition for Active Transportation and any other interested parties. "

    I am nearby.

    I need info, like a flyer or something to take around.

    I'm sure the cycling community could act as a progressive player in this; an opportunity presents itself. :)

    Hi Michael, thanks Joe,

    I have a flyer passed to me by a resident. Residents are planing a meeting for March 9, 7 – 9 at St. Joseph's Parish Hall. They would like to talk about he following issues;
    - Contaminated soil removal
    - Noise and vibration from the streetcars (health impacts, property values)
    - I think they want to re-route the line elsewhere.

    I do have a flyer. I can provide copies but it might be better to attend the meeting and see if there is any interest / overlap. The idea of improving Leslie for walking and cycling has been around well before this project. I spoke with a resident in a non-profit building at Eastern and Leslie and she was concerned about road safety for her kids (speeding cars and trucks).

    I am at (416) 461-1925 ext. 241 if you want to connect by phone.
