Marcus Gee of the Globe & Mail writes a love letter to winter cycling:

Okay, not really a love letter, but he does sound like the rest of us who bike in the cold… it's exhilarating, and never as hard as you'd think. :)

In a weird sort of way, i kind of feel cheated that the first winter that i decided to ride through wasn't too wintery at all. I would be false to say i have really done true winter riding this year. I swear there was only a layer of snow on the road maybe 3 times this winter?

It snowed so little the snowplows and salt had no trouble at all keeping up with the snow. Good news is i read somewhere that the city has a surplus of money budgeted for salt and snowplow work :)

Perhaps they can spend it on bike infrastructure? Nah….wishful thinking, but wish i will!
