I'm traveling to Toronto for the weekend of the 27-11.
Are there any people doing Toronto Critical Mass that Friday?
I'd like to meet some people to do this.
This is my first time traveling to Toronto or Canada altogether.

I'll most likely be around - maybe this'd be a good time to do a get-together for the forum members (we'd been discussing that anyway) before or after the mass.
Hi ibikechicago,
Welcome to Toronto (okay, a pre-emptive welcoming...). I also replied to your email about Critical Mass, but I'll post the info here for you too. :)
Critical Mass is riding the last Friday in Novemeber... and as usual it'll be meeting at Bloor & Spadina (map) at 6:00 and riding at 6:30.
Here's a photo on the south-east corner where everyone meets up. You'll know it by the giant dominoes. :)
I'm going to try and make Mass too... it's been a while since I've been to one.
Good idea about a meet-up Todd. :)
Um Joe? I don't know what others see but the southeast corner of Spadina and Bloor looks like a cute little bug here. ;-)
Hmmm, that's weird... the corner photo *was* showing up... then I re-loaded the page, and the bug showed... I'll try another photo.
Sweet deal!
Looking forward to meeting fellow cyclists in Toronto.
Any snow yet in Toronto?
Thanks Joe and Todd!
No snow - today is t-shirt weather!!! :)
Yes... I was just outside doing some painting on our porch... it does NOT feel like November... feels more like mid - October. Today's high is supposed to be around 12C ... I think that's about 54F.
I'm really excited about this trip and riding around in Toronto!!!
I can't wait!
Not exciting about cycling in Toronto. Its a rude, dangerous, criminally minded city. Rode donut this morning and counted no less then a dozen motorists BREAKING the law and talking on cell phones while driving. Weird how people pick and choose what laws to break. Would these same people be ok with me breaking a law and assaulting them?? I shall cycle my arse down to MASS from Richmond Hill. Looking forward to meeting you all...
I don't know - I have to say in many ways I find cycling in Toronto to be a series of extremes. The good is pretty good - there really is something about riding through a city that riding down a country road just doesn't do for me. The bad, when it happens, can be pretty bad. Fortunately, at least in my general area the bad isn't nearly as frequent as it was living in Thorncliffe Park.
There are definitely worse cities to ride in (I found Burlington absolutely *horrendous*). But there are also many far better cities. The worse ones help me appreciate what I have and the better ones inspire me to keep working for improvement.
Cycling is FANTASTIC in Toronto. Don't listen to anyone that tells you otherwise.
Sure, work needs to be done, but it still great to travel on 2 wheels!
Hey folks - any thoughts about the where and when for meeting up this Friday? There are a lot of options near Spadina/Bloor.
There's a possibility I'll have to work in the outer reaches of Toronto that day and may be late or not be able to make it at all. Apologies if that is the case...
I don't know the Spadina/Bloor area that well, but am all for meeting up beforehand.
Either that, or we can all exchange cell #s via email so that we can find each other at the corner.. depending on how many people are there. Fall turnouts are generally low, but it depends on the weather.
Now I need to top up the air in my tires. They have been too low lately.
Sorry folks - looking less likely that I'll be able to make it there in time. Have fun!
I'll come to Mass if some other forum people may be there.
Alternatively, we can have a meet-up sometime soon (in the next week or two) for a bite to eat.
That's actually a better option for me, Joe. I'm up at Eglinton and Laird today so won't be back home 'till close to 6:00 and might not be up for more biking. Doodle (dot com, I think) would be a good tool for scheduling a time where most people are available for a meet-up.
Eglinton and Laird is where the "Donut" starts every Sat & Sun at 9am. Toronto is a lousy city to ride in with lousy crooked cops....
I think that you feel a good experience during journey
