As usual, meet between 6-6:30 at southeast corner of Bloor and Spadina and ride at 6:30. I should be there now that I live much closer so maybe I'll see some of you there.

I'll *try* to be there. Look out for the red Giant MTB with black rear rack and side mirror. I have never been to one and would like to attend.
Will do - Likely to be on black bestickered MTB, black rear rack, likely grey vinyl pannier and may well be wearing a lime green windbreaker as it's pretty cold and CM rides slowly so there's little chance of getting warm from riding (which is something I dislike about winter masses *brrr*)
They're quite a mixed bag, IMO. The good ones are *really* good. Some nights drivers seem grumpier than others, and once in a blue moon some riders will get confrontational (but I have only seen that once). If the police show up it gets a bit irritating as they tend to break the mass up by making sure that the mass splits up when the lights turn red and then you end up with cars interspersed with the mass which can be dangerous. At that point they generally start handing out tickets.
Which reminds me - as it starts getting darker earlier they also have been known to hand out tickets for lack of lights. So I'd bring lights as sunset's at 7:09 PM tonight.
I'm going to try to be there, if the boy wants to come since we're both going to Bad Dog at 8:00. If I'm there I'll have a red pannier and I have magnetic lights on my front and back wheels.
Really nice Critical Mass. Weather was really gorgeous, drivers/pedestrians/transit drivers mostly very congenial and no police presence at all except for one actually directing traffic at Dundas and Spadina that even kept the mass together (Awesome!). As a bonus, towards the end, the mass passed within a few blocks of my house so it was almost like getting a ride home.
Nice to finally meet AnnieD and get to chat for a bit. Did you show up, MTBer? We didn't see you. Perhaps more of us will show up next month - or maybe we should all just take over a corner of a cafe or pub sometime.
Great to finally meet you Todd! I made it to Bad Dog with just minutes to spare. I was so relieved I didn't have to enter pretending to be one of the cows in the opening scene. Had a great ride home too - Dupont is actually a very nice street to bike on late at night, who knew?
Just tested the dog Croozer - my djembe fits perfectly. I'm all set for tomorrow's drumming class. :)
Second one for me so far. First one was the impromptu Car Free Day one which didn't have that many bikes on the road. All in all it was a pretty positive experience with a few incidents here and there. Cops did show up at Queen and University but fortunately nothing resulted from that :D
I enjoyed this one, nice to see a lot of familiar faces.
The best part was going through Little Italy with Michael playing a few appropriate songs on his trumpet.
I'm sorry I missed it... I'm spending all non-work daylight hours on our porch these days. Haha.
I got to Bad Dog too, but on Saturday... which I'll talk about in the Weekend Topic. :)
Hmm - after talking to Avtar yesterday it sounds as if there was one pretty obnoxious cyclist at the last event. Mostly the rides I've been on have been mostly free of such idiocy. Anyone have any ideas for dealing with this sort? I remember when Chris Carlsson was in town he mentioned that they had a pretty good way to deal with those sorts of people in San Francisco. I'll have to dig around and see what I can find. It's just that sort of thing that brings the cops out, ratchets up the tension and leaves everyone feeling grumpy.
I missed any obnoxiousness, was it directed at a driver? Was it a one-time incident or on-going?
I heard it from the back and only a couple of times. I think Avtar was a bit further back and may have seen more of it.
Funny how just where you are in the mass can affect one's experience. I like being in the middle, myself - too close to the back and you end up in more confrontations with motorists coming up from behind or impatient as they'd waited for everyone else to pass...
Yea there was one person who stuck out quite a bit where questionable behaviour was concerned. Some examples included swearing at a traffic cop that we passed at Spadina and College and swearing at drivers honking as we were holding up traffic in Kensington. I wasn't around when the mirror incident happened so I can't say who was involved there. Overall, just attitude that made me cringe :/
the getaway excursion appropriately together with the best possible leisure.
Going to the beach with friends at 19.00, go out fishing, swimming, having barbecue and make a bonfire and have fun till dawn. Nice threads.
