Just thought of one....
As you're biking on the street and watching out for,
2) the infamous door prize
3) activity at the upcoming intersection
5) street car tracks
You'll want to add to that this, which can probably be placed at number 3:
You also have to watch OVER the cars to the sidewalk and BOLO (be on the look out) for pedestrians that are engaged in cell phone activity (talking/texting) or are in a group of people and are about to leave the sidewalk, walk in-between the parked cars who step out to THEN look for oncoming traffic.
They tend to look out for traffic (or you) after they're about a foot away from the left side of the parked car. They see you coming, hop backwards and all I hear is "Jesus!" No, but you were close to meeting him :)
And by my luck, this always happens when there's a streetcar or 5 ton truck directly on my left. I guess we could make this point 6) inattentive pedestrians
Speaking of pedestrians. I wish we had a red light gate at my intersection of York and Queen's Quay. The pedestrians always, always, always walk against the red light on the south side of that intersection.
It's always "interesting" when a throng of them are doing it and I just want to bike or drive through the intersection to get to my building. I have to stop and wait when I'm on the bike. Some are merely part of the herd and don't even realize that the light facing them is red and upon realizing it is, they back off. The best is when I'm in the car. I approach, stop and they look at me, the light, me, the light, and then it dawns on them....they're jaywalking! They stop where they are, step back, wave me through and in my rear view mirror I can see that they continue their illegal activity of jaywalking!
And bikes are the problem. Sheya.
They tell me that I have ADD. They just don't underst...Hey look! A Chicken!!
