It's a very different experience to watch BoB go by than to ride in it. It seemed like a pretty good sized group when riding in the middle of it though it didn't seem particularly huge. Maybe the size of a large-ish critical mass. Watching the video of the ride going by, though, gives one an appreciation for just how many people there were.
To me the turnout for this, and the Ride for Heart show just how many people will ride their bikes if given a safe way to do it.

The Bells on Bloor website is saying 2000 people turned out for the 2009 ride. Nice!
