I've found the best breakfast for my mornings has been some hemp granola from Noah's (I forget the brand) and yogurt. Then, when I get in to the office I'll have a banana and some raw almonds.

And, you're right toddtyrtle, coffee isn't the best in the morning, here's proof. But I still love my coffee, more so for the smell than anything else.

Haha. Don't admire me too much... I sleep as long as I can in the mornings and then ride in... so I won't be late... but I start pretty early (sometimes 8 am, sometimes 7:30), so my hunger instincts don't really kick in until I'm downtown. :)

Oh, and I might also add that I find that though I'm very fond of it, coffee is one of the worst things I can have before riding. Not only does it knock my blood sugar down fairly soon after I drink it, more than a cup or two a day *definitely* impacts my aerobic capacity and I feel like I have maxed out long before I really have. I suspect that the caffeine at that point has increased my pulse and thus decreased the difference between resting and maximum rate. But I'm not a Dr. so that's just speculation.

I admire you, Joe, I have a hard time getting out of the house in less than 2 hours. When I am working outside the home I often wake up extra early just to take that into account.

Other great sources of quick protein is yogurt or a handful of almonds.

Most mornings I'm usually on my bike to work soon after I wake up, so I usually don't have breakfast until I'm downtown and at work. But, yogurt and almonds is a great way to have a nutritious filling breakfast, that'll give you energy for a while. :)

I agree with crazycga - eggs are good (though I can't abide by hard boiled). My usual for its speed was a bagel (high on carbs) and peanut butter (high on protein) and then possibly a piece of fruit. Still, depending on how far my client was I might need another snack when I arrived so it doesn't hurt to pack something also.

I personally find that two hard boiled eggs are good. Protein = good thing. And you can make them the night before. Which reminds me, I forgot to make mine! >:(

I'm trying to figure out what are good things to eat in the morning when your time between waking and biking is limited. I figure some protein is good but the key is carbs? Some peanut butter and toast with fruit sounds like a good mix. I tend to take a second small breakfast to eat while I walk into work because I burn through food like crazy anyways.
