Yikes – very scary. Glad everything was OK in the end. I’ll second Joe’s suggestion about the double kickstand – that’ll definitely help.

Great post. Scary.

What comes to mind is the lack of city or provincial standards in bike safety stuff: like front and rear lights should have a standard brightness, kick stands should be tested and approved by the CSA… I could go on.

Yikes! Thinking again about your adventure just caused a tingle up my back. That must have been terrifying!

Woah. What an adventure. Sorry to hear about these incidents, but am very glad everyone is okay.

I haven’t tried one, but a double kickstand (like this) may help with holding up a kid-loaded bike.

If your local bike shop doesn’t carry them, I’m sure they’d special order one for ya.
