Description

The TTC is proposing to put the new light rail car maintenance yard at Leslie and Lakeshore. The rail line is proposed to run up Leslie to Queen which means reconstruction of Leslie. This presents an opportunity to redesign the section adjacent to Loblaws, Price Chopper etc. The idea has been raised at previous public meeting but now that the site has been chosen and there will be an introductory consultation in February.

As you may know Isaac Morkell was killed at the corner of Leslie and Eastern on his bicycle several years ago. Others have reported dangerous conditions at public meetings and if you have watched cyclists (especially on a sunny Saturday morning) you know it’s quite intimidating and most will ride on the sidewalk for fear of the cars. Leslie can provide a direct north south connection to the Martin Goodman Trail and the lake. It is a destination for shopping.
