My New Ride: Globe Haul

The kind folks over at Specialized Canada have loaned me a Globe bike to ride around town for a couple of months. I’m starting to take a shine to the upright riding position and I’m looking forward to finding things to haul around on the huge rear rack.

Here’s my new ride:

The built-in rear light has three settings; the third one I like to call “dazzle”:

This rack is so huge that I’m tempted to call it a trunk:

  1. Hello Duncan,

I would like to buy this bike but so far no store seems to carry it in Toronto. Do you know who sells them and the price (they are advertised for $660 USD in the States. Also, is the Haul 1 prepared to take the front carrier of the Live? I would like it to have the ability of carrying my family’s weekly groceries and that would certainly help.
Thank you for any info. you can provide me with.

  2. Hello Nando,

Urbane Cyclist http://www.ucycle.com 416-979-9733 and Broadway Cycle http://bikedepot.com 416-531-1028 both carry Globe bikes. However, I’m not sure if either shop has the Haul model in stock. They would be able to order one in for you though. It looks as though it would be possible to mount the Live rack on a Haul. Both of the shops mentioned above would have comparable front racks that would provide an excellent substitute if the rack isn’t available separately. I hope this helps, feel free to comment here again if you need more information.
