My mother has seriously upped her game when it comes to cycling. Sick of her unreliable hybrid, she’s gone back to her roots (she’s Dutch) and purchased this stunning Batavus Diva.
Many thanks to Aaron at Curbside for being a remarkable help.
We’re heading out for a ride this Friday, I’ll be posting more pictures and a review of this Dutch bike in Toronto!
Great looking bike! Congrats to Duncan’s Mom! :)
Three speed hub Transmission? Is that a hub break on the front wheel? Painted rims? (hard to tell in the light)
Totally enclosed drive train. With Kevlar strips covering the tubes, you’d never have to fix a thing on it! A low maintenance, year round bike.
I’m wondering if this the future of city biking.
Michael
Three-speed internal hub? Check!
Hub brakes front and rear? Check!
Hub dynamo for the front light? Check!
Painted rims? No, but they will look good for a long time since there are no brake pads.
This could certainly be the future (although it’s also the past and present in Europe) of city biking in Toronto.
The I used Google instead of filling the web with useless content. I broke my own rule, “Look it up! Always bring something with you”. :)
The following link answers all my questions.

Yes the future here, the past everywhere else it looks like. :)
Awesome!
… also, say hello to your mommy for me.
@ michael – No worries… here’s the link for the bike at Curbside: http://store.curbside.on.ca/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=215_244&products_id=899
There’s a sale price on the bike in shop.
that is so cool your mom has a diva.. thats great that your mom can ride with you.. My mom is 65 and also tries to ride everyday, it helps that she spends 3 months of the year in holland, that culture really rubbed off on her..
snap a few pics of you two on your rides.. i haven’t seen a mother and son panda yet..
‘Xander I’ll get a panda shot tomorrow for sure!
A Panda Shot is when you take a pic of yourself while riding, right?
I’ve heard of it… but can’t figure out the “Panda” angle. :)
I should try it. Have to start taking more photos now that I have a camera with me most times (I bought Tracy a new fancy one, so I get her old one, haha).
