In early 2009 I realized I needed a change. I was rapidly gaining weight and couldn’t stay awake past 9 pm most evenings. I had given up my car to save money, but soon discovered that by taking the bus my commute time had doubled and that the money I thought I’d be saving was going to transit instead.
So, I bought a bicycle.
First, I’d just take my bike out for short trips around town. Then one day I decided to try and ride to work, 25 km away. Ever since day 1 I’ve been hooked. This one simple change has improved my life.
Duncan’s City Ride is a space for discussing cycling issues, offering advice to commuters and documenting my life on a bike.
