Why isn’t there a pedestrian/cyclist bridge to the Toronto Islands? It’s absolutely one of the best places to bike in Toronto, yet whenever me and my family want to go, we have to plan for the nightmare of getting there. The bike ride to the ferry docks? Great! The bike riding on the Islands? Amazing. The actual transit (and the associated waiting and crowds) across the water? No thanks.
When people ask me were they should go on these hot, hazy summer days in Toronto, I do two things.
First, I tell them to go to Toronto Island.
Then I give them a list of things they need to do to ensure their experience getting there isn’t miserable.
Do you bike on the Islands? How do you get there? What are your strategies to make it a less-than-nightmarish experience?
Should there be a water taxi service just for people with bikes?
