Photos from the Sweet Ride: Frozen Yogurt Edition

This past Saturday was the latest edition of the co-ed Sweet Rides I plan with Hyedie of the Girls Cupcake Rides.  We did it up with Frozen Yogurt Style and it was a great day!  Perfect weather, a great group of people, and great frozen yogurt businesses.  We even ended the ride with full on bicycle-love at MEC’s BikeFest at the Distillery District.

Here’s a quick re-cap, through photos. You can see Hyedie’s photos here, and Emma did a write-up of her experience on the ride here.

Why do smart businesses say yes to a visit from the Sweet Ride?  Everyone buys, and you get a big crowd in front of your establishment.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out.  The Sweet Ride is about food and about bikes, but it’s the people who come out that make the rides great.

As always, big thanks to my co-organizer Hyedie of the Girls Cupcake Ride, her knowledge of the West End helped us get around, and planning rides with her is a lot of fun (and I try to make everything I do fun, because life is too short to have it be otherwise).

June Sweet Ride: Frozen Yogurt Edition!

START
When: 1pm
Where: Menchie’s
(Annex location)
511 Bloor Street West
Toronto, ON M5S 1Y4

2nd DESTINATION
Where: Gurt’s
283 Roncesvalles Avenue

END
Where: Bike Fest
Distillery District

ROUTE
We’ll be taking a longer route from Menchie’s and Gurt’s so that we can ride down the West Toronto Railpath (Joe and Hyedie’s fav!) and also work off some of the initial frozen yogurt that we eat at our meet up spot!

Gurt’s also serves baked goods, so if you’ve had your fill of Frozen Yogurt from Menchie’s there are non-FroYo options for you there.

Then from Gurt’s we’ll ride down Roncey’s to the Martin Goodman Trail to head over to the Distillery District so we can check out the MEC BikeFest!

Just one possible tricky bit for this route is: turning left from Dundas West onto Sorauren Ave, right after we exit the Rail Path. Let’s try to take the whole lane so we can turn left together as a big group. Also watch out for those streetcar tracks too!

RSVP on Facebook to keep up with any communication we might have for the upcoming ride, or keep on visiting our blogs to keep up to date on all things Sweet Ride.

Sweet Ride: Cupcake Edition, the Music Video

Sweet Ride: Cupcake Edition - Apr. 22, 2012As I mentioned when I posted photos from the Sweet Ride: Cupcake Edition on Sunday, I also took about 100 short videos during the ride, and have been editing them on my phone.

I’m finally done, and was able to take 11 minutes of video down to 3.5, as well as pairing it with a peppy pop song that has been in my head for a few months (thanks to CBC Radio 3). I give you the Sweet Ride paired with “Big Blue Wave” by Hey Ocean.

In addition to the photos I posted on Sunday, be sure and check out the photos Hyedie posted on her Cupcake Ride Blog.

The next Sweet Ride is on Saturday, June 23rd.  We haven’t picked a food theme yet, but will soon.   Stay tuned.

If you are female and can’t wait for June, Hyedie is planning the next Girls Cupcake Ride for Saturday, May 26.

If you want to keep up and informed about future rides, you can also follow BikingToronto and the Cupcake Ride on Facebook and Twitter:

Photos from the Sunday Sweet Ride: Cupcake Edition

Yesterday, we had our first Sweet Ride (co-ed food based group ride planned with Hyedie of the Cupcake Ride) of 2012.  It had a cupcake theme, and we started up at Bathurst and Eglinton at Flour Studio and went all the way to Bobbette & Belle in Leslieville almost completely car-free via the Beltline, Moore Park Ravine and the Don Valley.

I ended up taking 149 photos and videos along the way.  Most of those (about 100) are short little videos I’m currently editing into one for you (it’s taking a while), but here are the better photos I took.

Details about the next ride are after the photos.
