I Bike T.O. Profile: Erin

I spotted Erin’s shirt in her Twitter profile photo (@erintoop) a couple weeks ago, and asked if she wanted to be in an I Bike T.O. profile.  Lucky for us, she said yes!   (More info about I Bike T.O. Profiles at the bottom of this post).

Pictured below is Erin, and below the photo is why Erin loves biking and her shirt.

I had lived in Prince George and Edmonton for most of my life, where the cycling seasons are pretty short-lived, and so moving to Toronto was an awesome change. I love the fact that Don Johnson, my trusty steed, can get me almost everywhere I need to go in the city, just about year round.

On top of transporting me to and from work, cycling also plays a major role in life at work. I am a transportation engineer and I focus a lot of my energy on helping make urban transportation more sustainable. Conveniently,  sustainable and bikeable go hand-in-hand.

I bought my t-shirt last fall, during brunch at Grapefruit Moon (an excellent Annex brunch and beer joint, by the way). Grapefruit Moon awesomely displays these shirts above their bar, and after I spotted them, there was no doubt that I would be ordering a t-shirt to go.

In these polarized times for cycling in Toronto, I think the I Bike T.O. logo is a great and positive way to promote cycling in our city.

Below are some other I Bike T.O. Profiles.  If you have an I Bike T.O. shirt and want to be profiled, just email me and let me know.  If you don’t have a shirt, but want one, you can get them online, or at Outer Layer (577 Queen, near Bathurst), or email me… I may have one hanging around in your size.

Today is the last day of the I Bike T.O. Shirt Sale!

Last Monday, we launched an *at cost* sale for the super-popular I Bike T.O. Shirts in celebration of 10,000 followers on the @bikingtoronto twitter account and 1,500 likes on the BikingToronto Facebook page… and TODAY is the very LAST day to get in on the deal!

The shirts have sold way more than expected… interest before the sale indicated anywhere between 25-50 would be sold. As of this morning, we are at over 250 shirts sold!!

It all means a bunch more admin work for me (I’ve been spending 2-3 hours every night the last two weeks compiling orders and keeping everything as organized as I can), but it’s worth it… everyone is SO excited to get shirts!

If you’ve been thinking about getting a shirt but need some extra incentive, here it is:

I was going to let this be a surprise, but I want everyone possible to get a shirt on sale PLUS the bonus free gift each package will have… a couple I Share The Road stickers, designed for putting on bikes and cars, and graciously donated by James Schwartz of the excellent blog The Urban Country.

What’s that? You want more?

In addition, each t-shirt will come with details of a very simple contest that will give you excellent chances at one of MANY gift cards from the excellent Toronto company Gelaskins, who make very cool artistic and custom skins and covers for phones, tablets and laptops.

I’m also working with the fantastic bike magazines Dandyhorse and Momentum on something from them as well. More details will come with your shirt.

I’m even working with Two Wheels Delivery so that if you live in Toronto, there’s a very good chance your shirt will be delivered on two wheels!

What’s that? You haven’t bought a shirt at our super low price yet? You know what to do ( and you only have until midnight to do it ).

I Bike T.O. Shirt Sale

I Bike T.O. Shirt

UPDATE:

Our I Bike T.O. shirt sale is now over. The shirts will be available in select Toronto stores soon (I’ll update this space when they are).

In the meantime, you can always buy them online.

______________________________________________________

Depending on when you see this, the @bikingtoronto twitter account is either near, at, or slightly over 10,000 followers, and our facebook page is near 1,500 “likes”.

To celebrate, I’m putting the popular I Bike T.O. t-shirts on sale, AT COST for anyone that wants one.

 The Details (long, but important):

  • I’ll be collecting orders until Friday, July 27, after which I’ll place an order for all the shirts, and get them to you hopefully within 2 weeks… so you should be able to wear your shirt in mid-to-late August.
  • I’m doing this through Paypal to cut down on administration work.  You do NOT need a Paypal account to buy a shirt – just punch in your info after you click “Buy Now”below and they will do the rest. They keep payment information super-secure, and that’s important.
  • If you want to order more than one shirt, you have to go through the process again. Paypal charges a bunch of fees for this option, and I’m trying to keep your cost down as much as possible.
  • If you are a bike organization wanting to buy a bunch of shirts to re-sell for fundraising, contact me via email and we can get the cost down a bit more (as less shipping will be needed).
  • Toronto shirts will be delivered using the great bike delivery service twowheelsdelivery or by myself using bike and/or transit
  • If you don’t live in Toronto, I have to send your shirt via Canada Post, which is a little pricey
  • Toronto: $14 (South of Steeles, Etobicoke to Scarborough)
  • Ontario: $20 (including GTA)
  • Canada: $30 (outside Ontario)
  • Non-Canada? Email me and we can figure out shipping costs
  • 2XL and above incur an extra fee of $3, email me if you need this option
  • All prices are INCLUSIVE of ALL Taxes, Packaging and Shipping!
  • Size Chart is here
  • Available colours at bottom of this page (scroll down)

I Bike T.O. Profile: Elli

(Cross-posted to the I Bike T.O. Blog)

Over on the BikingToronto Flickr Group, I always look for great photos of bikes and cyclists around Toronto (I’m looking into ways of highlighting these on the blog more, quickly and easily) but what I love to find is someone just rockin’ one of the I Bike T.O. t-shirts I designed.

Pictured below is Elli, a new(ish) cyclist in Toronto, looking amazing in an I Bike T.O. shirt, and below the photo is text by Elli telling us a bit about herself as well as why she bought the shirt.

I Bike T.O. Shirt - Elli Garlin

So little bit of a background story on my biking adventures. I started doing long city rides with my best friend Luke in the summer of 2010. The rides have always ranged between 35km and 75km. Even though we were both born and raised in Etobicoke, we found biking around Toronto was such a different, interesting, and fun way to see parts of the city that you can’t see when you’re in a car. I used to go to university in Waterloo, so whenever April rolled around we would be itching to go biking again. Luckily this year I’m at school in Toronto so the biking has already begun with a trip to the Bluffs.

I came across the Biking Toronto shirts last summer while spending countless hours online looking through anything biking/city related. I finally decided a couple weeks ago that the wait had been long enough. A new season had just begun, and with that a new biking shirt had to be added to the wardrobe (to complement my new bike, of course!). When it comes to t-shirts I always prefer v-necks that are either black or white, so naturally I bought the womens black v-neck shirt. It arrived two weeks earlier than I was expecting it to, but of course that was just another plus. I love the shirt so much because it represents where I’m from and what I love to do. I think it is safe to say that I’m happiest when I’m on a bike.

I can’t wait to wear this shirt on my upcoming city rides and show it off! And perhaps I will even end up getting a few more of those shirts in the future. There are at least two others that have my attention.

Thanks Elli!

I hope you enjoy the shirt and that it helps you meet other cyclists.  Everyone seems to love them!

Showing off an I Bike T.O. Shirt Winner!

You may remember that a few weeks ago we ran a “Twitter 5000″ contest to celebrate having 5000 followers on Twitter.  5 lucky people won I Bike T.O. shirts – @minx2012 @DavidDuttonCA @Peejaay18 @creativaty and @Lola_318

All the shirts have been ordered, and are starting to be delivered to the winners.   @Lola_318 did us a favour and snapped a photo of her wearing her shirt.   Looks great! :)

We are always looking for photos of people wearing their I Bike T.O. shirts – so let us know if you have one.
