On Saturday, June 14 cyclists around the world participated in a World Naked Bike Ride – including in Toronto.

The naked ride is meant to be an international protest “against oil dependency and urban pollution,” according to the Naked Bike Ride Toronto website. The ride also aims to promote bicycling safety and inspire body freedom.

EVENT: Sept 15 – Ice Ride: Bike to Save the Arctic

  • Date: Sun, Sept. 15
  • Time: 1 pm
  • Meet point: Allan Gardens

As fossil fuels continue to burn, pumping greenhouses gases into the atmosphere and raising average global temperatures, scientists are finding that the Arctic sea is melting at an unprecedented rate. Now, oil companies are pressing north in the search for “black gold” and Greenpeace doesn’t like this one bit, so they’re organizing Ice Ride. It’s a mass bike ride taking place on September 15, 2013, in over 30 countries and 75 cities with the intention of spreading awareness and getting the message across that we need to take care of the Arctic sea ice before it’s too late.

EVENT: July 28 – Son of Tour de Gelato

We meet at Rooster Coffee House at King East and Parliament, grab a coffee, ride the Martin Goodman Trail along the lake from the east side to the west side of downtown, stop for a bite in Mississauga (place TBA) and then head all the way to Port Credit for some really good gelato. And then we head back! This will be about a 60km ride and should take about five hours in total. And we will all have earned at least two scoops of gelato. Maybe three.
