What’s happened in 4 years?  Why don’t I tell you?

Hosting:

BikingToronto started out on blogger.com before moving to it’s own domain, and just moved over to WordPress at the start of this year.

Evolution:

BikingToronto started out as a personal blog orginally (I’m moving personal posts over to my new “Joe Bikes” blog ), but quickly started become more informative than narrative, as I was having trouble finding cycling related information online without running all over the internet.  It was time to change that, so BikingToronto started out on becoming the site you see today.

Information:

I love information.  Not just reading it and learning it… but organizing it and making it accessible.  That’s why BikingToronto is here… because cycling information about Toronto was kind of hard to track down… the City of Toronto website was (and still is) a good starting point, but finding out about news and events meant subscribing to umpteen newsletters and constantly checking lots of different websites.  That’s very inefficient.

Maps:

BikingToronto was the first website to use the power of Google Maps to make a map of Bikelanes in Toronto.  This idea has since been duplicated by other websites.  You’re welcome!

BikingToronto was also the first (and only, still, I believe) to make an online map of all the Bikeshops in Toronto.  Super-handy to know where the closest place is.

Innovation:
