The Toronto Bike Awards consist of the City of Toronto giving out Bicycle Friendly Business Awards (BFBA) and some bike groups will give out their own awards.

Also, please note that the Toronto Cyclists Union is providing their Bike Valet service, so you don’t have to worry about finding a place to park or about your two-wheeled steed getting stolen.

The Bicycle Friendly Business Awards are given out every year to businesses and organizations across Toronto who are making an effort to encourage their clients and employees to cycle. Previous award winners have proven their commitment to cycling through a variety of initiatives such as providing secure bike parking, shower and change facilities, and offering economic incentives for employees who cycle to work.

The awards recognize that the more people ride their bikes, the more we will notice a reduction in traffic congestion and pollution, making Toronto a greener and healthier place to live, work, and play.

Nominations are now being accepted for the BFBAs. The last day for BFBA submissions is September 12, 2011. This year awards will be handed out at the Toronto Bike Awards taking place at the Gladstone Hotel on September 26^th, 2011.

Please take the time to  nominate and encourage others to nominate your business or organization, or another  business or organization that helps to encourage cycling in our city . By supporting this cycling friendly initiative, you will help to encourage other businesses to follow suit.

2008 Winners

The Bicycle Friendly Business Awards are presented annually to businesses and organizations across Toronto who are making an effort to encourage their clients and employees to cycle. The winners will receive a trophy for one year, a scroll from the Mayor, and will be listed in press releases and in the 2010 nomination form.

The awards recognize that cyclists help in making Toronto a greener and healthier place to live, work, and play. Cycling conscious businesses help to reduce traffic congestion and smog in our city.  All businesses that support cycling help the City to achieve one of the goals of the Toronto Bike Plan to double the number of bicycle trips made in the city by the year 2011.
