Introducing The News Cycle

bicycle-news

I'm going to start a new feature here on BikingToronto... something I'm going to call "The News Cycle". There is always so much happening in Toronto related to bikes that I sometimes don't get a chance to blog about it (you can usually find everything on the BikingToronto Facebook Page or Twitter Feed though), and that isn't fair to you, dear reader. Therefore, I'm going to attempt to do a periodic post that links to and shortly describes things you need to see regarding bikes in Toronto. … [Read more...]

Happy 2011!

happy-new-year-2011

It's New Years Day, and I hope your holiday season was happy, safe, and filled with great friends and family. Here at BikingToronto, 2011 is shaping up to be a busy year.  More and more Torontonians are hitting the roads on 2 wheels, and it'll be interesting to see how Rob Ford as Mayor responds to it (and how the cycling community responds to Mayor Ford) as well as witnessing the launch of Bixi Toronto, which will see 1000 Bixi Bikes hitting the streets of downtown Toronto. As always, … [Read more...]

Welcome Duncan to the Main Blog

Duncan means business. Look at all that black clothing! :)

I'd like to welcome Duncan to blogging here on the main blog of BikingToronto. For those of you who have been visiting BikingToronto for a while, you'll know that Duncan started the first of many member blogs on the site last summer.  His City Rides blog has been a great read, featuring personal stories and photo-posts about dressing with style and how to carry stuff by bike, as well as general larger-topic issues. Here's a little bit more about him from his "About" page on his City Rides … [Read more...]

BikingToronto, Interviewed

You may have noticed that BikingToronto is vastly different in 2010 than it was in 2009.  It's more interactive, social and has, on average, 87% fewer references to Rob Ford.  Okay... just kidding.  Rob Ford is "good copy", as they say. :) Ben Elling of Third Rail Repository decided he wanted to interview me to figure out why I had made the changes and learn more about the evolution of the site as a source for great cycling information for anyone interested in bikes in … [Read more...]

That's right!  4 years have gone by since I made the very first post on BikingToronto on Jan. 12, 2006.  4 years!  If BikingToronto was a kid, it would be starting kindergarten. :) What's happened in 4 years?  Why don't I tell you? (photo from no small wonder on Flickr, via NYC BikeMaps) Hosting: BikingToronto started out on blogger.com before moving to it's own domain, and just moved over to Wordpress at the start of this year.
