PHOTO OF THE DAY: Where worn out travelers rest their feet

Original photo – by Sarah Pauline on Flickr.

Model is Bella! So i’m uploading from the Sheraton in Toronto, Canada, where we are staying over night. The power went out in our town after the earthquake, so we decided, why not take a spontaneous trip to Canada! And we reserved our hotels along the way. Yesterday, we were in Niagara falls, and tomorrow we head to Montreal.

EVENTS: June Art Spin – Recap, Photos and Thanks

Untitled

I have yet to make it to an ArtSpin, but not because I don’t want to go.  These look AMAZING.  Newsletter link below, and photos from June 26 on the Artspin website.

Last week’s Art Spin tour was the first of the season, and our biggest June tour to date. Thanks so much to all who came out and contributed its success. Here is a little recap of what you either saw or missed last Thursday. For a full photo gallery of the event, check out our online archive on the Art Spin website.

This tour began in Lamport Stadium Park with Sno Cones from Trevor Burnett at Tipicular Fixin’s and Geoffrey Bercarich providing free bike tune-ups. We were led by our emcee Shamez Amlani, and special returning guest Michael Louis Johnson on the trumpet and Johnny Cairns playing tunes from his bicycle trailer sound system.

EVENT: Bike Photography at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibit

culturesnap
Last year at the Danforth East Arts Fair, I ran into Henry Vanderspek of Culture Snap Photography.  He had lots of wonderful photographs up in his booth, and a fair bit of them were of bicycles, so I got to talking with him.
His work is part of this weekend’s Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibit at Nathan Phillips Square, open until 7:30 tonight at 6:30 on Sunday

Description: An exhibit of unique bike images from Toronto to Tanzania by Toronto photographer Henry VanderSpek.

About me: As a Dutch-Canadian who grew up watching his father bike to work each day, Henry VanderSpek has a long history with bikes. Since developing a love for photography in the early 90s, Henry has noticed that bikes are a recurring theme in his images. Whether in Rwanda, Santa Monica, or the streets of Toronto, Henry finds bikes are often an artistic element in daily life. This show is a collection of some of Henry’s favourites and a small attempt to celebrate the diversity of how bikes are used worldwide. Drop by, enjoy, and get inspired for some spring cycling!

Meet the photographer: Saturday March 1st, 12-2 PM and Thursday March 20th, 6-8 PM.

If you can’t make it, check out Henry’s CultureSnap website. Really good photography, and lots of bikes!
