I’m one of 22 people who have been nominated to join the Cycle Toronto Board this year. An election will be held on March 30th at the Cycle Toronto AGM, being held at the Garrison near Ossington and Dundas.
Here’s my bio:
I’ve been commuting to work by bike in Toronto since 2005. For the past 11 years I’ve run the website bikingtoronto.com where I shares news, events and photos of great bike stuff in Toronto. I’m currently a co-captain of the Ward 31 advocacy group, a co-chair of the Danforth Loves Bikes campaign as well as a volunteer member of Cycle Toronto’s Fundraising Committee. Professionally, I work in the research and evaluation field in database management, analysis and visualization.
Why I want to join the Cycle Toronto Board
I’d like to become even more involved in fundraising to help Cycle Toronto’s finances, allowing us to do more and better things. I also have an interest in creating even more engagement with our members to involve them more in advocacy, but also Toronto businesses and local politicians to help create a city that *always* thinks about how bikes benefit everyone.
I’m particularly interested in using my skills in collecting, managing and visualizing data as well as program evaluation principles to help Cycle Toronto develop and improve programs and initiatives by aiding and informing decision making. I also have experience in social media, website content creation and curation, event planning and project management.

What kind of cyclist am I?
I’m mainly a daily commuter, with weekend rides on the waterfront and the ravines. We are a car-free family and bought a cargo bike last year, so we’re doing more and more purely by bike.
I’ve been at past AGMs and voted for people, but often wished I knew more about them beyond the short bios that are part of the material at the AGMs, so I thought I would do the “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) thing like famous people do on Reddit, so that anyone can ask me anything about why I’m interested in helping Cycle Toronto more, or anything else (what bike I ride, where I like to ride, etc., etc.,)
I’ve set it up as a thread in the Biking Toronto facebook group, for as much interactivity as possible.
ALSO! If you, or someone you know is nominated for the Cycle Toronto Board, and are open to the “Ask Me Anything” type of thing, we can set up a thread on the facebook group for you too.
