I was doored last week.
But, don’t worry – I’m okay, all things considered
Despite some horrific bruising on my arm and some muscle trauma in my best and side, I was VERY LUCKY and did not end up in the hospital or even dead.
However, if you’re like me, you think that “luck” should NEVER be part of the equation when it comes to bike safety in this city.
I am SO pissed off that I could’ve died due to the stupidity of someone opening their car door without checking to make sure if it was safe to do so, and I get significantly choked up thinking about that fact that my daughter may be without a father right now.
This is why I’m fundraising for Cycle Toronto for their Bloor-Danforth fundraising ride! I don’t want “luck” to decide if someone lives or dies on Toronto’s roads ever again.
PLEASE consider donating to Cycle Toronto. They are fighting hard for safe, protected, and connected bike infrastructure. I’ve lined up a draw for $400 Leafs tickets, plus $10 off purchases at Greater Goods AND Luvelo Bike accessories, just for donating via my link.
If you need encouragement, here are 9 amazing reasons to donate:
Cycle Toronto is a non-profit with people who have the job of making Toronto safer for people on bikes. From building relationships with the Mayor and City Councillors to help pass bike-friendly bylaws and install bikelanes, to providing Bike Valet services at events all over Toronto, to helping schools establish bike-to-school programs for their students. It’s their JOB to make Toronto better for bikes.
I’ve lined up a great prize for one lucky person who donates through my donation page – 2 fancy Leafs tickets to the Nov. 8th game vs. the Los Angeles Kings. Tickets are worth $400 for the pair, and donated by Singer Kwinter Personal Injury Law.
You get an entry for the draw for every dollar you donate, so donate a few extra bucks if you can!
The friendly people of Greater Goods are giving you $10 off online orders for ANY amount donated through my donation page. They bike-deliver environmental and sustainable household products to your door – check out their website.. I especially love how every single ingredient of every product is listed and researched and rated.
Yes! Donate ANY amount through my donation page and get $10 off an order atLuvelo Bikes. They have seriously the most stylish bike bells and baskets you’ve ever seen, and now you get them for $10 cheaper!
