Data, data, beautiful data.
[The Bloor bike lanes] will also be the city’s most rigorously evaluated, Mayor John Tory says, as Toronto takes a leaf out of the book of former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg, who was famously obsessed with having data to measure the effect of city decisions.
“I won’t compare myself to him because he was obviously a tremendously successful entrepreneur, but we were both business people,” Mr. Tory said of Mr. Bloomberg. “And what you try to do [in business] is make your decisions based on rational sets of facts – and that comes from measurement, in some form or another.”
What about you? What do you think is the most important metric being measured by the Bloor bike lane pilot?
I know *I* will be shopping and using Bloor a lot more now that the bike lanes are in. I avoided Bloor before because it was so unsafe to bike on.
Are you going to use Bloor more with your bike? Comment below.
