NEWS: Toronto girl raises money to buy bikes for kids

Great story, and it’s nice that the Sun has not turned on the comments for this story.

Seven-year-old Julia Burkhardt wants every kid to have a bike.

So the Toronto youngster decided to host a fundraising bike ride to help make that happen.

“I was sitting in a park one day with my bike beside me on its kickstand and I was thinking: ‘Why couldn’t everyone have a bike,’” Julia said Sunday.

“Then I told my mom what I wanted to do and she said it was good idea.”

Young Julia got to work, making a Facebook page and posters to put up in her community, and rallying together her friends from school, sports teams, Girl Guides and her babysitters to help spread the word about the event.
