Toronto’s Bike Plan due to be finished in 158 years

Bike Plan timeline final.img_assist_custom-519x622

Fabulous infographic by Cycle Toronto:

The City of Toronto continues to be stuck in neutral when it comes to installing bike lanes. In 2013, the City installed zero kilometres of protected bike lanes and 2.4 kilometres painted bike lanes. At the current rate, it will take 158 years to reach the 2001 Bike Plan’s target of 495 kilometres.

via Toronto adds zero protected bike lanes, little paint, in 2013 | Cycle Toronto.

A great graphic, with good perspective. It presumes that the Bike Plan is worth doing… Direct routes equal respect in my view; and there’s an admitted to gap in the west end west of Bathurst St., and guess what? Bloor bike lanes would be a very good place to have started a decade ago, especially W. of Ossington.
I’d settle for mere cheap paint – it’s been 8 years to get where we are now to have yet another Bold Study, reporting back after the election….
