via Cycle Toronto:
Like you, we were extremely disappointed by the 24-19 loss at City Council on Oct 2nd to save the Jarvis St bike lanes.
Cycle Toronto organized, held community meetings, held 2 large rides, launched a legal challenge and submitted a large petition. Community members wrote their councillors and demonstrated against the decision. In spite of this, City Council decided to turn Jarvis back into a highway.
According to City staff, the Jarvis St. bike lanes will be gone by early November, but they’ll still be undead for the increasing numbers of us who use them regularly to get to school and work, and just get around. So let’s come together one more time: dress up in your scariest Zombie Bike Lane costume and celebrate cycling in Toronto.
