July Toronto Girls’ Cupcake Ride

This month, the Toronto Girls’ Cupcake Ride will be a picnic on the Toronto Islands!

Make or buy cupcakes (or other goodies) to share with other riders at a Lunch Picnic on the Toronto Island!

START: Hanlan’s Point Ferry Gate
TIME: 11:00am
DATE: July 17, 2011

Let’s take the ferry over to HANLAN’S POINT. We’ll meet at the Hanlan’s Point ferry gate (the Toronto mainland side).

We’ll be taking the 11:15am ferry, so please ensure you are paid and at the gates a little before boarding.

**There is the 39th Annual Festival of India being held during this whole weekend. It was super busy last year, so I suggest arriving at least 45 minutes before the departure time to pay for your ferry ticket and get through the gates in time. Once through the gates, however, most people will be taking the Centre Island ferry so we shouldn’t have any problems.

From Hanlan’s Point we’ll cycle to Ward’s Island, explore Algonquin Island, loop back and then find a picnic spot to share our goodies (if anyone wants to buy any additional goodies/drinks we can do that at some of the cafes on Wards).

• We may not find a picnic bench, so if you have any picnic blankets that you can bring that would be great.
• If you can bring a plate and fork in case people decide to bring something more substantial than cupcakes to share!

If weather doesn’t cooperate, we will postpone the date until the following week!

Cupcake tip: if you are bringing your own baked creation, we found that waiting to decorate until we got to our picnic spot ensured that the icing didn’t smoosh around in our baskets/panniers.

Please remember to read the Ride Rules!

RSVP to the Facebook event page if you like!

Sorry gents! This ride is for girls only but keep checking back here for info on the next co-ed ride. It will involve pies and it will be in August!

DO IT! Take a survey; help Toronto plan cycling infrastructure

We’ve just posted our first survey for the development of Toronto’s Cycling Network Plan for the next 10 years. At this stage we are asking Toronto residents about values, so we can better understand the priorities of residents in different parts of the City. Understanding these priorities will help inform resource allocation. The geocoding and […]
