Bike Photographer’s Bike Stolen

If the name Georgette Peters rings a bell… there’s good reason… she’s a prolific Toronto photographer that not only loves taking photos of bikes (bike bells in particular) but is featured frequently on our Photo of the Day pages.  She has even had a gallery show of her bell photos – Does This Ring a Bell?

I’m sorry to report that Georgette has had her own bike stolen, and sent me the details to post:

Hey there folks …. hope you’re all having a better day than I am. Today while I was down at Harbourfront checking out the Island festival, my bike was stolen. I got there around 12:30pm – checked on my bike around 1:30pm (still there) and then at 2:30 went to get it to go meet up with friends to do some shooting in graffiti alley, only to find it gone. I must have wandered back and forth about 6 times because I just couldn’t believe it.

I have informed Harbourfront Security of the incident and am just waiting for the police to call back and give a report to them as well.

I also went to take a look at Uncle Jacob’s on Spadina as per a friend’s suggestion but no luck there.

I know some of you may frequent Craigslist, Kajiji, eBay, etc so if you can keep your eyes peeled, I’d appreciate it. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My bike was a Giant FCR3, 50″ frame, serial #G060919190. It was dark grey with a pink smiley face bell and two metallic pink water bottle holders. I realize the bell and the water holders could have readily been chucked in the trash long ago. I’ve attached some photos. I just got off the phone with the police and filed a report – I don’t know if the report # is helpful to anyone. If it is, drop me a line and I’ll shoot that info your way.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can provide.

Take care.

Georgette

This seems to be a great chance to tell you about our re-vamped Toronto Stolen Bike Listing.

We’ve had a couple different incarnations of this Stolen Bike Listing over the years… but now we have a dedicated portion of the site just for it… set up in a blog style… and best of all anyone can post to it to list their bike.  You still need to register as a member of BikingToronto though… just to cut down on spam registrations.  You’d be surprised by how many spambots care enough about biking in Toronto to sign up for our site. :)

We haven’t “officially” launched the new Toronto Stolen Bike Listing... but it’s over there and functional if you need it, so remember it’s there… and tell your friends!
