Toronto’s First Coloured Bike Lane


We’ve heard about them in New York, Portland, and European cities, and now it looks like they are in Toronto! They are proven most useful in areas where bike traffic and car traffic usually cross.

This is at Strachan and Lakeshore. The blue is intended to highlight a conflict point where drivers merge across the bike lane to make a right turn.

It sounds like this is a test area to see how long the colour lasts.

    Hmmmmm…. lots of paint is as slippery as s**t when it’s wet. Hopefully this isn’t the case here – a terribly slippery bike lane will be worse than no bike lane at all.
