Dovercourt and Bloor to York University

The Bicycle Route Mapping Wiki Project

Hi there, just wondering if you have any advice for me – on Wednesday during rush hour I have to bike from Dovercourt and Bloor to York University. Looking for the most pleasant and safest route,

Todd Tyrtle left the map below map in response, with a note:

Sure – the route I take isn’t too bad, though I go to Dufferin and Steeles. I’d say start with this: but once you get to Dufferin and Supertest go left. Make a right on Alness and a left on Steeles. (Sorry – this is a bit crappy but you don’t have to stay here long). Left on Petrolia and then right on Canarctic. That will take you right on to the York campus.

There are some even quieter sidestreets on the Bikely route but that route is my best balance between being pleasant/quiet and too slow because of frequent stop signs.

Hope this helps!

A long distance runner and a cyclist all my life, my 40th birthday, mid-life crisis saw me become a full time messenger in Toronto - 80 kilometres a day, winter and summer for 3 years. I was in the best shape of my life - both mentally and physically - but three accidents, the chaos and a war for space between bikes and other road users was turning me into a 21 Century road raging zealot. I had to quit. I had learned midtown and the core and of this city like the back of my hand - and that mental mapping changed me forever. I still cycle everywhere but my work is now the pursuit of my other life long ambition - to make myself into a writer.
